This is a multi panel encaustic painting done on nine separate 8” square cradled wood panels, that hang together, making a 24” square.
The paint surface is rich and highly textured.
This piece ships assembled and framed in a simple pine exhibition frame.
Encaustic paint is made from a combination of beeswax, pigment, and damar, and is worked by heating and melting the materials. Encaustic paintings are very durable (examples remain from ancient Egypt) but they are susceptible to high temperatures, so they should not be hung in place that may get excessive heat, such as in a window or near a radiator.
