Ficus Lyrata

I began a daily practice of observational drawing, bringing a fiddle leaf fig into my studio as a stand-in for the natural world. Its curves, structure, and bold lines echo concerns from my abstract practice. A series of small ink drawings lead to encaustic studies, and then to larger paintings on canvas.
