The Swans

This piece is an abstract encaustic painting (bees wax, damar, pigment) with metal leaf and pigment which makes varied textured surfaces on the wood panels which are assembled to make a 40”x48” painting. The painting varies from textured brush strokes to smooth and shiny painted and gilded surfaces. The raw wood is exposed in the areas where there is no paint. For shipping, this piece will come in two parts, which will come with simple assembly instructions. Encaustic paint is made from a combination of beeswax, pigment, and damar, and is worked by heating and melting the materials. Encaustic paintings are very durable (examples remain from ancient Egypt) but they are susceptible to high temperatures, so they should be protected from direct sunlight or excessive heat.
